Michael Andrew Stugrin
Principal and Chief Executive Officer
In his own words:
I am an accomplished business writer and communications advisor to corporations and professional services firms. I’ve helped clients develop and articulate industry positions as well as conceptualize and position new services.
Based in Long Beach, CA, for the last five years I’ve operated my own business writing and communications consulting service. My clients have included a major national consulting firm (with practices in health sciences, actuarial and insurance services, investigations, real estate, and structured finance), a risk management company, a security software company, an educational and audiobook publisher, and a retail loss prevention magazine. Projects have included white papers, sales brochures, letters, press releases, articles, financial communications (financial results press releases, S-1 and 10K/Q filings), internal and external newsletters, speeches, and business writing classes.
My long corporate career includes executive positions in marketing, corporate communications, strategic planning, and speechwriting with Pinkerton, Concurrent Computer Corporation, Unisys Corporation, Sperry Corporation, and Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Early in my career, I was in education, holding teaching positions at University of Pittsburgh and Iowa State University where I taught literature, research methods, technical and business writing. I also published articles, lectured, co-founded a scholarly journal, and taught literature (pro bono) to prison inmates. I earned a Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University and a B.A. from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in English.
Jennifer Green
Senior Consulting Writer and Project Manager
In her own words:
Two skills that I believe provide particular value to our clients
are strong, incisive writing and detail-oriented project management.
Without quality writing, the most lavishly produced brochure
or annual report will have only a hollow impact; without strong
project management, clients spend more money than they need
to with no guarantee of quality or value.
I have 15 years experience writing and managing print projects
for healthcare, adult education, and services companies. As
the editor of a customer publication for a $5.5 billion global
services corporation, I have traveled the world meeting clients
and telling their stories. Additional professional skills and
experiences include:
- Planning, implementing and reporting total quality management
studies and assessments.
- Developing, writing, and producing hundreds of brochures,
annual reports, customer publications, case studies, and videos.
- Managing creative departments, including writers, designers,
and webmasters.
- Recruiting, evaluating, hiring, and managing dozens of consultants
and vendors - including freelance writers, graphic designers,
printers, photographers, web programmers, telemarketers, event
and video production firms, and direct mail houses.
- Working closely with senior management on crisis communication,
employee communications programs, and product introductions.
- Writing and managing employee communications programs targeted
at a wide variety of associates in many industries.
- Repositioning existing marketing materials to meet trade
show and web site needs.
I've lived and worked in Europe, the east coast, northwest,
and now in southern California. I have two undergraduate degrees
in literature, linguistics and adult education from the University
of Warwick and Oxford University; and an MA in Literature and
Linguistics from the University of Oregon.
Dennis Wittman
Senior Consultant, Business and Financial Planning
In his own words:
Even while some of the initial euphoria about dot-com start-up
companies has calmed down, I believe two basic keys to the success
of new businesses are a well-written, compelling business plan
which includes realistic financial projections; and sound financial
management. For new companies and new ventures being launched
by established businesses, there are investors and investment
money available.
I have 20 years management and hands-on experience in finance,
administration, manufacturing, and systems. I've worked for
large companies such as Occidental Petroleum Corporation and
Smith International, Inc. as well as small companies such as
Harvey Universal, Inc., Micronix Integrated Systems, Videoscape.net,
Inc., and Demographic Research Company, Inc.
My core areas of expertise and experience include:
n Preparation of business plan financial statements, investor
presentations, Board of Directors and Investor communications.
n Preparation for and managing process of funding - including
angel and first-round, bridge financings, Series B Preferred
Stock Offerings, and Initial Public Offerings.
- S.E.C. reporting, audit, and tax management and reporting.
- Functional management staff recruiting for finance, accounting,
and administrative services.
- Implementation and management of manufacturing and inventory
control processes.
- Due diligence, negotiations, and closing of funding, acquisition,
and divestiture transactions.
I have lived most of my professional life in Southern California.
I earned a BA in Business Administration from Westminster College
and an MBA from Duquesne University.
